Firstly, they are WATERPROOF. Huge plus. And they don't look it. In terms of sizing, I think they are true to size, but they run a little narrow in the foot. I normally wear a B width, and occassionally a wide in running shoes and hiking boots. My advice is if you are between widths, go for the wide. The material felt nice and it was well made. The shaft fit my calf well oweing to the ample stretch, and my calves are on the athletic side. I don't think I could have tucked my jeans into them though.
Now for the downsides. First, the leather wasn't very supple - perhaps because it had to be treated to be waterproof. Despite the slight stiffness, it still bunched around my ankle. This was the biggest letdown. It's kind of one of my pet peeves. The bunching made them look less sleek/elegant and more casual and I really wanted these to be more fitted at the ankle.
